Wedding Day Hooray 2013

February 21, 2013

Bridal shows and wedding expos can easily be too overwhelming and full of the tacky wedding crap that makes you want to barf.  Thank goodness for Wedding Day Hooray, hosted by the Indie Craft Experience in Atlanta!  This year 31 vendors gathered together at the Ambient Plus Studio to offer brides a one stop shop for cool, handmade or sustainable options for their wedding day.  I was proud to be a part of that group!

I shared my space with – duh, you guessed it – the lovely Audrey of French Knot Studios – and here is the amazing booth that was 100% one of her never-ending good ideas!  We painted handmade frames in creams, pink and mint and attached gold chicken wire – did you know chicken wire is the #1 wedding trend for 2013?  We then attached examples of her work, such as bow ties, suspenders, sashes and hair pins and lots of my lovely prints.  These were hung with a few of my canvases and lots of glittery sequin strands and bunting.  What’s something of ours without some gold glitter, right?

Then we each had our little station.  Audrey cleverly presented examples of fabrics available in our color palette to show how you can creatively outfit your groomsmen.

My table was decorated with lots of albums – the mini albums were a hit – I love gifting these – the perfect size to keep in your purse! Each year, Wedding Day Hooray has a table competition.  Vendors have the chance to really show off their skills by decorating a table and the attendees can vote for their favorite.  We wanted to offer something different so we did a candy buffet table instead of a dining table.  Our centerpiece is actually nesting tables that we painted mint and covered in chicken wire.  We then hung pictures from an engagement session – a cute way to display yours at your wedding!  We found candies in our color palette and put them in milk glass vessels.  Hints of poppy red provided excitement to our otherwise muted colors. Here were a few other fun ideas.  I loved the earthy elements of the one below – the leather straps, bird house and plants – done by Roundabout. The table on the left was wonderfully nerdy and done by my friends at Fallen Arrows.  These guys were probably the coolest at the party – such fun people and uber talented – they do direct to fabric printing and can make all sorts of fun things so be sure to check them out.Leah and Mark had their super fun photo booth so we took advantage.  I personally think we look like super fun people to work with……hint hint :)

Here’s a list of my favorite vendors from the show – people you should definitely check out!

Blue Eyed Yonder – vintage rentals and styling

Fallen Arrows – direct to garment printing

Aurelia Adornments – sweet girly dreamcatchers

Bear Maker Bakery – yummy liquor filled dessert balls

Heart of Gold – gorgeous gilded headbands and crowns

Lindsay Coletta Designs – amazing floral design

Miss Pickles Press – invitations and paper goods

Pretty Swell Parties – event planning and styling

I had so much fun meeting new brides – y’all have such style, I just know your wedding will be nothing short of adorable and amazing.  And I loved getting to know the other vendors – y’all rock and I can’t wait to work with you!
